Furniture OverviewThe Sleigh Bed

I am not a maker of elaborate pieces preferring the softness and beauty of the timber to speak for itself and I take great pains to keep a uniformity of chosen grain patterns for both panels and uprights.

Coffee Tables

My work is always hand finished with shellac and wax to allow the natural highlights of the grain to be distinguished and so that it feels silky to the touch. To me choice of timber, correct proportions and simplicity of design are the most important fundamentals in a good piece of furniture.

The Potboard Dresser

The most important tool in the making of a fine piece of furniture is the eye.  The eyes are used to judge proportions, consider grain patterns and choice of design.  Once and only once those things are established can the making begin.

Low Level Bookcase

I have a simple workshop which contains only a planer, a table saw and a sander.  My most important assets are my sturdy, flat workbench and my stock of timber which I mill myself this does not mean that I am incapable of producing large amounts of work it's just that I prefer the more traditional approach to both the design and making process.

I view both the making and the design in the same light -  to achieve as much as possible in the simplest form.  Strength and durability is an important criteria for me each individual component of my work is a balance of design, simplicity and strength.  The actual making process is just the way I go about achieving this.
